Established in 1985, Smaller Scholars Montessori Academy offers Montessori programs for Toddlers through Kindergarten and First through Sixth grade. We offer 3 program hours: Half Day, Extended Day and Full Day for 5 days a week.

Being located near the West Houston Energy Corridor, we accommodate families from all over the world. We may have as many as 16 different languages being spoken between staff and children.  The concrete Montessori materials are an unspoken universal language.  Children of any language have no trouble communicating with their peers in this enriched environment.

Our unique three-building Dairy Ashford location is set on an eight acre park-like campus, which includes 3 large age-appropriate play areas with climbing equipment, an outdoor park featuring a soccer field, bike track, basketball court and a waterplex. The outdoor gazebos and canopies are excellent shaded areas for picnics, special projects and outdoor classes. The large open spaces provide many opportunities for the children to run and play. The large gymnasium is perfect for our family events and after school optional programs.

Each building consists of a beautiful  foyer that invites parents to visit with other families. One even has a large fish tank that attracts our youngest students and adults alike. The classroom windows are so large that on sunny days classroom lights may not be necessary. Rooms have observation windows so that you can observe the children as they go about their daily routines.

The Elementary building houses four classrooms, a library and dining room that also serves many other purposes. Our Elementary program utilizes high tech integration and is wireless. It has Macintosh wireless computers, digital cameras, digital camcorders, a computer piano keyboard, wireless printer and an LCD projector adding to an already rich Montessori environment. With these wireless mobile laptops teachers have been free to integrate technology fully into instruction as well as assignments. Music, Physical Education and Foreign Language are an important part of the Elementary curriculum. Each year the Elementary presents a wonderful musical where the children take part in all aspects of the production. Every child plays an important role in these productions.

The School offers many Montessori educational opportunities for parents in the evenings, newsletters and informational take-home flyers. When parents and school work together in educating the children everyone wins.

We offer a variety of Optional classes to interest all ages and to allow children to participate in planned activities after school. Many times for parents have a difficult time fitting extra activities in an otherwise hectic schedule and the after school programs allow you to spend more leisure time with your child.

Our Montessori teachers have been part of Smaller Scholars for many years and some up to twenty-three years! The very low Montessori Teacher turnover ensures consistency of care, a unique ‘family-like’ atmosphere and experience which we believe is immeasurable.
